I have always been HORRIBLE about keeping things organized... and keeping a schedule... FORGET IT! But since I started homeschooling I have actually enjoyed doing both. I still have my days/weeks where I get off track but I have found that my life is easier the more I keep up with everything. Being a Mommy of four I have had to learn that if I don't keep things going, organized, and on schedule then NO ONE will! :) I want to have responsible children that take care of their things and pick up after themselves but in order to teach that, I have to be that way too. I am the #1 example that they see.
I wanted to share a few things that have helped me on the journey to be scheduled and organized. I definitely haven't perfected it and NEVER will but things have been so much better.
#1. Pray about it and ask God to help you. God will give us strength and energy to get things done. He also gives us the patience and the best reason to be better! I want to show God that I am thankful for this home he has given me and all the things in our home. In the past I was horrible at showing Him how thankful I was for His blessings. Keeping things smooth, clean, organized, and taking care of your things is a huge way you can thank Him daily!
#2. Getting my house in order- closets, shelves, every area of my house (seen or not seen)
It may not always be perfectly clean but everything has a place now and daily/weekly I walk around and make sure they are in there place. When you 'let it go' it builds up and then you get overwhelmed. Also when you decide to organize, don't do the entire house at once. Do one closet/room at a time. Don't get overwhelmed or you will give up. (I used to).
#3. I remember another very important reason I want to keep things organized and clean. Because my girls watch me. They see the things I do. I knew that but didn't know really how much until I started being better at it. One day my seven year old, Trinity came to me and she said, "Mommy, I want to be better about keeping our room clean." I said, "Well, that is a very good thing but what made you think about that?" She said, "Because you keep our whole house clean and you do everything for us. I want to do that like you do." My heart melted. I had been praying that my girls would notice the things I do (not so I would get 'praise' or attention) but so they would learn. I want them to see me as a godly mom and wife so they will know what kind of mom and wife to be someday. I also asked her if she knew why I did those things and then explained what I said in #1. That I want to show God how thankful I am for what he has blessed our family with. What a wonderful opportunity that was for me!
#4. This is actually my 2nd reason or motivation (after God), My hubby! I want him to have a 'safe place', a nice, comfortable place to come home to. It is because of him that I get to be a stay at home/homeschooling mom. He leaves the house and take care of things outside the home so that we have a home so I want to make a place for him to relax. I don't want him to have to worry about the household chores or if he has a clean work shirt. (sometimes I do get behind still, like I said I am not perfect) but I definitely do better then I used to. It is a constant job but it is a rewarding one!
Thank you for reading! I have missed blogging and I am excited about some ideas I have to blog about in the future! :) HoPe EvErYoNe has a GrEaT Saturday!
